Nanadobbie is Cornwall’s only specialist retailer of classic original mid twentieth century designs. Established in Lostwithiel in 2005, the shop specialises in quality designs originating from Scandinavia, Italy, France and Germany as well as the best UK designs from the last 50 years. In furniture, it features classic Danish rosewood and teak items, stylish chrome and leather seating and iconic Italian designs. The shop in Lostwithiel stocks the largest selection of mid century glass in Cornwall, featuring Scandinavian and Italian designs as well as home grown classics from Whitefriars and Dartington.
The gallery of original and limited edition prints includes pop art prints by Warhol, Hockney, Peter Blake and Michael English, original vintage film and rock concert posters as well as one off pieces of artwork from the mid century period. As well as this, Nanadobbie has a huge selection of original lighting, all rewired and tested, mostly sourced from right across Europe. Nanadobbie attracts visitors from throughout Cornwall and further afield and such is its success that the shop has now opened a second branch in Stoke Newington Church Street, London.

'Nanadobbie!' What kind of a name is that?' You may have asked, passing one of the newest shops on Church Street. Of course, there's a story: run by father and daughter team Mike and Alys Dobbie, the shop opened in January at the same time as Alys' grandmother passed away and so is homage to the original 'Nanadobbie'. Selling furniture, glass and ceramics, Alys says she hopes to sell good quality, original mid-century, modern design at affordable prices, adding 'Stoke Newington is the hub of the creative and artistic life of North London, I hope I can live up to Church Street standards!' N16 welcomes her enthusiasm. www.nanadobbie.com /
