Lostwithiel retailer launches Brighton shop
LOSTWITHIEL retailer Nanadobbie has expanded by opening a third shop.
Nanadobbie first opened in Lostwithiel in 2005, specialising in original mid-20th century designs in furniture, glass, ceramics and artwork.
As the only such specialist retailer in the West Country, Nanadobbie has attracted a huge following of buyers.
In 2008, father and daughter Mike and Alys Dobbie opened their second shop in London's Stoke Newington Church Street and have opened a third shop in Brighton.
With the development of an internet business and the opening of a further retail outlet in what has traditionally been the antiques centre of the South, Nanadobbie is now one of the leading suppliers of mid 20th-century designs
"However it soon became evident that this was a huge growth market with the popularity of 20th-century design dominating the interiors market.
"So many items were selling to people in London and the South East that the opening of a shop in the south was obvious." In recent years, Nanadobbie has found another market with the hire and loan of furniture and props for TV series and film sets as well as national newspaper and magazine features.
"Our biggest problem is actually sourcing new and original items," said Mr Dobbie.
"Many of our items are now coming from Germany, France and the Scandinavian countries, where there is far more good quality design from this period.
"The addition of another shop now allows us to move stock about as well as increasing the size of our website."
Key items from all three shops can be found on www.nanadobbie.com
